Small pump project for bathroom

I deal with constant water outage where I live. This building in downtown Montreal is quite old and there are frequent repairs leading to hours long water disruptions. The building does send out notifications which helps us stock up on buckets and water bottles, even using the bathtub for storage.

I recently had this idea to use a simple pump setup to run water to the wash basin. I looked for small pumps online but the prices were a little beyond what I was willing to spend for a hobby project.

I chanced upon a small submersible pump ay a thrift and immediately picked it up. I ran home ordered a silicone pipe and hooked it up immediately when it arrived only to realize the pump is very low powered and can barely lift water 20 cms. Lesson here to pay attention to tech specs.

I was too invested in this project so ordered a pump from amazon.

I designed a small pivoting holder to be attached to the soap holder. It moves out of the way when  not needed.

hooked up the pipe, dropped the motor in the tub, and used a foot switch to operate the pump. Works very well for those occasional outages.

The pump runs off of 120v AC and I don't like this. Wiring is a problem and so is the risk of electric shocks. I looked up a GFCI circuit breaker but nope, I've spent enough on this little project already.

New ID card Holder

I have not done any leathercraft in the last 6 months due to a stramge injury in my left wrist that last for months beforeI got a steroid injection in Hyderabad that immediately fixed it.

Today I set out to replace the ID card holder I'd made 4 years ago using scrap leather. It's not in bad shape but the threads and cutting is very amateur as this was one of my earliest projects.

Today I wanted to use shell cordovan but realized I don't have enough. Settled for the green beg tan leather (italian) I bought from Lonsdale leather last year. It's understated and should do the job although a brown leather would have been ideal.

Took about two hours to make.

Bedside ambient music from salvaged speakers

The apple display I used to build my last screen project also had what looked like good quality speakers with a small dedicated subwoofer.

- I wanted to first build a small wooden enclosure speaker but remembering I made a similar project 4 years ago that I later put in the trash, I wanted to fo something different.
- Ordered a small aliexpress amplifier board
- Tested the speakers on my workbench. They worked fine with a smaller 12v 1.5A power supply.
- Installed them on the other side of the headboard, on my bed
- connected my bluetooth rx/tx device
- listened to 'Railway Getaway' on youtube.
- They're perfect for ambient sounds like trains, rain, and other white noise.
- I can also connect them to my Google TV and project on the ceiling

Overall happy with this project.

Reviving an old Apple Cinema 27 inch Display

- Picked up this old monitor from Facebook marketplace for $30 CAD
- Ordered a controller board from AliExpress for $24 CAD
- Realized I need a 6A power supply so got one from Amazon for $20 CAD.
- 3D printed a very amateur enclosure for the main PCB and another for the control panel.
- The monitor works great and has now replaced my LG screen I was using as my second monitor ony work setup.
- The front glass and bezel was missing from the beginning. It doesn't bother me.
